Ashcraft Furniture: The Pello

Ashcraft, a leading UK supplier of flat pack furniture, partnered with True Reflections to design a new bed that could add maximum value to the user for the space it occupied. Our approach began with user interviews, to understand the target market, the team identified two core objectives: ease of assembly and space optimisation. The resulting solution called the Pello addressed both objectives, culminating in an innovative design that was a practical, stylish focal point in the bedroom.

Fred Aldous: Weaving loom

True Reflections crafted a close partnership with Fred Aldous to differentiate their own brand weaving loom. Competitor products proved difficult to use and complex to manufacture. The design team increased the weaving loom’s usefulness by merging the functionality of two products, a bead loom and a weaving loom. Reduced material variety streamlined the manufacturing process and makes end of life recycling easier. Reducing the amount of hardware simplified assembly whilst also adding the valuable extendible feature.

Make Your Mark: Tenner trophies

Make Your Mark, work with young people to encourage enterprising activity amongst people 14 – 30 years old. The Make Your Mark with a Tenner project gave 16,000 young people £10 and challenged them to make as much profit and social impact as they could in one month. Using our design process, we created a durable, high quality award that had high perceived value to the winner. The resulting design showcased the essence of the competition with simplicity and entrepreneurship at its heart and transcended the “throw away” culture of today.
